EYES WIDE OPEN - 100 YEARS 0F LEICA PHOTOGRAPHY
in C/O Berlin, Germany
Some photographs/vintages of DAS KÖLNER HEIL (Cologne Salvation) are exhibited in EYES WIDE OPEN - 100 YEARS OF LEICA PHOTOGRAPHY at C/O BERLIN, Germany.
"For the first time, this exhibition will highlight from an art and cultural historical perspective how the Leica and the 35 mm format has changed the photographic gaze in the 20th century. More than 300 photographs, as well as magazines and important photo books document the different aspects of the Leica photography, which emerged in the mid 1920s. The exhibition is hence also a history of the style of the medium, from Modernism to the postmodern diversity of the present, from New Vision, through "photographie humaniste" to the fashion photographs, from subjective photography, through Autorenfotografie to street photography and artistic photography. In this exhibition C/O Berlin will present works by internationally renowned Leica photographers such as Alexander Rodtschenko, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, Oskar Barnack, Christer Strömholm, Robert Frank, Bruce Davidson, William Klein, F.C. Gundlach, Fred Herzog, Robert Lebeck,William Eggleston, René Burri, Thomas Hoepker, Bruce Gilden and many more."
The exhibition was curated by Hans-Michael Koetzle.
